Salary Range: $52,500-$75,000

Primary Duties Include:

– Preparation and editing of correspondence and legal documents (including pleadings, affidavits of documents, trial records, affidavits of service, notice letters, etc.)
– Reviewing documentation and claims from new files
– Organizing and requesting productions and medical documentation from clients and service providers
-Scheduling court proceedings, including Examinations for Discovery, Mediation, and Pre-Trials;  
– Assisting with authorizations and productions
– Complying with undertakings in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure
– Opening and closing files
– Maintaining daily contact with clients
– Scheduling appointments
– Issuing and filing documents in accordance with appropriate deadlines and limitations
– Drafting, editing, and filing Statement of Claims and other legal documents in the Superior Court of Justice and Small Claims Court
– Review documents and prepare written materials related to personal injury and employment litigation in Ontario
– Requesting Motor Vehicle Accident Reports, MTO Searches, Property Searches, Corporate and other searches necessary to obtain documents required for litigation
– Communication with our process server regarding service of issued Statements of Claim
– Ensuring claims are served in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure
– Other general and administrative duties as required

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications:

– Minimum 3+ years of Plaintiff Personal Injury experience
– Legal Assistant Diploma or Paralegal Diploma, along with any other legal continuing education courses is an asset
– Strong verbal and written communication skills
– Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
– Ability to manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail
– Excellent interpersonal skills
– Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented atmosphere
– Able to work in person in our main office, located in Mississauga
– General understanding of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and the Limitations Act
– Strong technical skills (including experience with Microsoft Office, Primafact, Filevine, Medchart Caselines, and the Justice Services Online Filing Portal, preferred)
